Board Member (2006 – 2010)

Masjid Al-Islam is a faith-based organization which is recognized as the first mosque in Dallas – Fort Worth Area with a mission to serve as an instrument to promote human excellence. After the Dallas Bridges shelter program started in Dallas in 2005 and simultaneously most of the constituents of the mosque were moving away from living close to the mosque, it started creating financial and sustainability challenges for the mosque. Zain was nominated to join the mosque board to help define a five year vision which included the opening of a new “Beacon of Light” center by leveraging on existing service programs to help stabilize the financials, significantly improve the mosque, and eventually open the Beacon of Light facility adjacent to the mosque. Zain proudly served on the board for 4 years with very experienced leaders.
